Mexico is known thanks to its magnificent culture, its history and the people who were part of it.

The creativity that exists in this country does not distinguish borders, it knows no mistakes and there is no one stopping it.

Mexico is home to a vast infinity of museums, their great walls house much of the culture that distinguishes this beautiful country.

Mexico is the second country with the most museums worldwide, according to the latest report from the Latin American Institute of Museums and Parks, there are approximately 1,789 places in the country.

So, in honor of the art and creativity that is fostered in this country, we decided to make a list of some of the most interesting museums in Mexico.

Museo del Desierto

In the historic and colonial city of Saltillo, in the state of Coahuila, you will find this incredible museum, known for its impressive display of dinosaur skeletons. This enclosure is divided into four pavilions: the first, the desert and its past; the second is about man and the desert; the third, on evolution and biodiversity, with a mammoth skeleton included and the fourth is known as the laboratory of life, where a litter of Mexican gray wolf was recently born. Definitely this museum is not common, that makes it extraordinary.

Museo Leonora Carrington 

The Centro de las Artes in San Luis Potosí is the headquarters of this spectacular museum, whose building functioned in colonial times as a penitentiary and it was until the 1990s that it became a cultural facility. This beautiful enclosure has more than 100 pieces and personal objects of the artist Leonora Carrington, that include sketches, jewelry, drawings and spectacular sculptures.

Castillo de Chapultepec

This incredible fortress is in the highly acclaimed Mexico City is, it was built in 1785, it was abandoned during the War of Independence, in 1843 it was used as the base of the Colegio Militar and was the scene of the battle in which the “Niños Heroes” participated in 1847. This beautiful enclosure was inhabited by emperors and presidents, from Porfirio Diaz to Lázaro Cárdenas, he turned it into the current Museo Nacional de Historia. The Castillo de Chapultepec is the only royal castle found on the American continent.

Instituto Cultural Cabañas 

In the beautiful city of Guadalajara, Jalisco you can find the Instituto Cultural Cabañas, also known as Hospicio Cabañas, this place is the cultural center of Guadalajara; besides being a museum, it is also the headquarters of the Cineteca Nacional of Jalisco, La Biblioteca de Artes and the Escuela de Artes. In this historic site, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, you can see the amazing murals by José Clemente Orozco and a valuable collection from artists such as Diego Rivera and Rufino Tamayo.

Definitely Mexico houses a historical, cultural and artistic wealth that surprises with its versatility.

The history of this country will not die because it is preserved, so the following generations can witness the wonder of Mexico.
