Manuel Caloca Dam

Teúl de González Ortega

After a day's journey through the Historic Center of Teul, throw yourself into the adventure and admire the beautiful natural landscapes that surround the Manuel Caloca Dam or better known as Ticuata.

When you arrive at the dam's pier, the first thing you see are two colorful trajineras: La Ticuata and La Caxcana, inspired by those of the town of Xochimilco in Mexico City and waiting for visitors to stroll through its calm waters.

The trajineras are made of oyamel wood, a material that has the ability to repel water, as well as coconut fiber that serves to permeate the joints and alcayatas to keep them together. It is a safe way to walk in them.

The dam is ideal for kayaking and sport fishing, as well as an area for camping.

During a walk around the dam, you will also find excellent places to taste the typical food of the region.
