Downtown, you'll find a white color emblematic building: it is the Historic Navy Museum. The property once house the old Militar Navy School of Veracruz that opened its doors in 1897.

Its history goes back to April 21, 1914 when it was the scenario of the second North American intervention and where young cadets of the navy school defended the building. It was in 1997 when it officially opened its doors as a museum for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Heroica Escuela Naval.

Little by little, this precinct has been remodeled in its different areas to be attractive for national and international visitors, keen to to know its history. Today, the museum show cases 28 exhibition halls with more than 1700 historical pieces, including impressive navigating instruments, scale ships and uniforms among other items.

The Navy Aeronautic wing in the museum is dedicated to the Buque Escuela Cuauhtemoc (an emblematic vessel of the Mexican Navy). Here we can see the ship in real size and observe some weaponery evolution and a large collection of uniforms.

“La Armada de Hoy” hall tries to raise awareness about the marine enviroment and wealth of Mexico's marine life. Before leaving, don´t forget to walk by the central patio and learn about its beautiful gardens while you enjoy a coffee cup or a refreshing beverage.
