Campamento Vida Milenaria (Millennial Life Camp)

Tecolutla

There’s nothing more exciting for a human being than feeling part of the miracle of life, especially when you can hold a small baby olive ridley turtle in your hands and release it to begin its journey to the sea.

That is precisely what you can do at the Campamento Vida Milenaria (Millennial Life Camp), just three blocks from the bus station on Niños Héroes St.

Founded by Fernando Manzano in 1974, he convinced the local fishermen to help him preserve and rescue different species of sea turtles such as leatherback, hawksbill and green, which are critically endangered.

From there, this project arose. From June and July they invite you to be part of the massive release of these cute little animals, managing to return up to 70 thousand baby turtles to the sea. Talks are also given on the site in which these reptiles' importance to the Tecolutla ecosystem is explained.
