Nanciyaga Ecological Reserve

Catemaco

In the middle of the rainforest, this conservation refuge has been operating for three decades and has proven, over time, that Mother Earth will always be wise.

There was hardly any talk of sustainability, and through Nanciyaga's veins there was already knowledge and passion for environmental education, the possibility of man and nature existing in the same space without harming each other.

This amazing place that once stole Mel Gibson's heart for one of his movies, is determined to make anyone who sets foot inside fall in love. Utopia is a small word to encompass the greatness of what goes on in Nanciyaga.

Temazcal baths, wooden canoes to move you, a bathtub inside a spring; in addition, the nights illuminated by oil-lamps and lighters giving light to the huts like when the moon was most powerful over our heads, provide this small village with an atmosphere that rubs against the dreamlike landscape.

The possibility of drinking water from the leaves of a tree, eating with the hands the delicacies given by the plants, or living as if it were a walk in the sky, is part of the daily life in the reserve.

For us, outsiders and strangers, these are events that we fervently wish would be projected in the last function of our days, because this is how the path to paradise is imagined.
