Situated at number 21 of the “Plaza de la Constitución”, in the center of Tlaxcala, you will find Tlaxcala Art Museum whose building houses one of the most valued collections of the city.

The site was opened in May 2004 and is located in a property built in the 19th century. Notice that this space served as a prison and hospital before. It has six rooms, divided in two buildings, all of them tailored with a high technology illumination, secure system and air conditioner.

In one of the rooms, there is a showcase of six pieces by the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, made between 1923 and 1927. It is one of the most exclusive collections in the state.

Four of the other rooms are dedicated to temporary modern and contemporary art exhibitions, this in order to promote local artists.

If you want to rest or just get to know more about the history of the Museum, you can do so in the library, which has areas committed to conservation and investigation.

It also has a school services area for a guided tour with the students from different schools of the entity.

Just like other museums in Mexico, the general admission has a low cost price, with a discount available for students, teachers or elderly adults.
