Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption

Tlaxcala

Ancestral ceremonial temples

Built in the 16th century, the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption is one of the most beautiful temples in the state of Tlaxcala, because, far from being ostentatious, its Renaissance style is rather simple with a stone facade and large wooden doors.

Inside you will discover the main altar in which a baroque Solomonic altarpiece stands out with a painting that reflects the baptism of Mr. Maxixcatzin, where Hernán Cortés and La Malinche appear as godparents.

In its chapels you will find various altarpieces and paintings that portray the Virgin of Guadalupe and the Christ of the Precious Blood of the Convent.
