Planetario Tabasco 2000 (Tabasco 2000 Planetarium)

Villahermosa

A concrete, aluminum and glass structure in three superimposed pyramids shape gives rise to the Planetario Tabasco 2000 (Tabasco 2000 Planetarium). Its architectural design represents prehispanic culture, miscegenation as a product of a new civilization and current scientific, technological and cultural advancement.

The planetarium offers visitors screenings in the Omnimax system (concave screen and acoustic camera with state-of-the-art technology) and audiovisuals for reinforcing knowledge on various topics such as aeronautics evolution, marine ecosystems, studies on the atmosphere and Earth formation.

Children complete the visit with workshops on solar energy use, astronautics, modern physics, Mayan mathematics and, of course, astronomy, whose central theme is telescopes’ construction, operation and use.

An area not to be missed is lobby, adorned with Daniel Ponce Montu’s mural “Magia e Historia del Universo Maya Precolombino” (Magic and History of the PreColumbian Maya Universe), integrated by five canvases. Concerts and plays are held on the central esplanade. In addition, there are nightly sidereal observations every weekend.

The planetarium is in the financial zone Tabasco 2000.
