The heart of the Tenosique Municipality will take you directly to the shores of the Usumacinta river. This place got the City’s rank in the year 1915, when it received the name Tenosique of Pino Suarez to make an homage to the politician, lawyer and journalist José María Pino Suárez who was the Vice President of Mexico and was killed in 1913 by Victoriano Huerta in the so called Ten Tragic Days of the Mexican Revolution. Nowadays, you can see a plate in the house when he was born and a monument for remembering his life.

To fully enjoy the Usumacinta river once you are in Tenosique, you can stroll through the pier. To learn more about this town you can visit the Tenosique History Museum, here you will find archaeological pieces of the Mayan and Olmec cultures as well as crafts and objects related to traditional dances in the region.

However, most of the visitors come to Tenosique of Pino Suarez for enjoying its famous carnival. Later on, you can visit the archeological vestiges or maybe practice adventure sports or ecotourism in the beautiful scenarios of this city.
