Ecoparque Aguaselva (Aguaselva Ecopark)

Malpasito

Less than a kilometer from the archaeological site, you find this ecological and natural park where you can put on a bathing suit, tennis shoes or boots, depending on. In the place it’s possible to practice from hiking, bird and plant watching, and walking through the jungle or the stream, as well as immersing yourself in its refreshing waters.

Bromeliads, ceibas and cocoa plants are part of the innumerable nature that will accompany you along the way. Fortunately, they’re marked so that you can identify them, which we find fascinating because there are plant derivatives we consume all time and that we may not have ever seen in their natural environment as could be chocolate, which comes from cocoa beans—you’ll see it several occasions throughout the park.

If you’re looking for taking an extraordinary proportions dip don’t hesitate to head towards the waterfalls known as “El baño de la reina” (The Queen's Bath) and “El baño del rey” (The King's Bath) either for swimming in their refreshing natural pools or for a long time enjoying of the sound of water and the vegetation around you.

Try to rest for a while because another unmissable stop is “La Cascada de la Pava” (La Pava’s waterfall), which you’ll reach after an about two kilometers path. Its fall reaches 50 meters, becoming spectacular in the rainy season. You can also immerse on its shores or simply admire it and in the meantime let the birds sound accompany you.

Aguaselva has accommodation in quite-comfortable dreamlike-atmosphere cabins. Outside they have hammocks and spaces to sit and talk, have moonlight parties or dine with family or friends. Don't forget to bring your mosquito repellent, so that they don't interrupt your night with unexpected bites.
