Surrounded by spectacular hills and between the Tonala and Mezcalapa rivers at the Tabasco state, you will find Huimanguillo, a destination that will make you travel through time to explore the history of the Olmec culture better known as the mother of Mesoamarica.

The history of Huimanguillo goes back to more than 2 thousand years B.C. when Olmec culture settled at La Venta, here they created an important religious and political center. In this site its culture developed, but it was later destroyed by the oil industry. Many of the gigantic heads and other monoliths that you can see at La Venta Museum come from here.

The historic data shows important information related to the first years of The Conquista. The Zoque people were displaced by the Ahualulcos (Nahoas). But it was in the year 1857 when they finally reintegrated to the Tabasco department thanks to an agreement in the Republic Constitution.

At Huimanguillo there are different things to do. This is a municipality that adjoins north with the Cardenas town, east with Chiapas and south with Veracruz.

Its warm humid weather allows that plenty of vegetation grows around the city so you can enjoy beautiful landscapes.

The Historical Center of the city has a peculiar characteristic, just take a look by yourself at the Benito Juarez Park with its typical Kiosk. It is surrounded by the Municipal Palace, the Catholic church is next to the emblematic “La Piña” monument, which represents the municipality since here this fruit, the pineapple is harvested.

Why not try many of the delicacies of the gastronomy of the place that includes grill armadillo (jueche),seafood chilpachole,maneas, deer salpicon and tamales.

Leaving this town with a souvenir is the same as not really coming, so go and visit many of its crafts stores.

The travel through the city is not over just yet, take a rest and start a new adventure through the many attractions of the nearby localities.
