Puerto Peñasco

Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, has an almost 110 kilometers coastline of beaches, popular within swimmers, water skiers and sun lovers. So, for sure the first stop that you should make at this destination is the sea.

Sandy Beach is where the main all-inclusive hotels are located, therefore, it’s one of the most frequented by families. The beach is formed by the waves of the Sea of Cortés, so it can be an access for diving.

Bonita is another family beach with plenty of activities. Here you can rent lounge chairs, umbrellas and take jet ski rides or fly with a parachute or delta wing.

On the other hand, Las Conchas beach is more solitary due to its sand covered by remains of seashells. Its waters are shallow and ideal for seeing stingrays without straying too far from the shore. The beach tranquility has made it an ideal place to practice yoga and meditations.

Towards La Cholla Bay you will find Tucson Beach. Here you will witness one of the most curious natural phenomena of Puerto Peñasco—tides. These occur because the ocean floor of the coast is very extended. There is little depth and you can notice the distance and approach of the sea.

The phenomenon exposes a large part of the reef forming pools to refresh yourself surrounded by marine life. Although the tides aren’t dangerous, it must be noticed that sea level can rise at any moment and cover the beach completely.
