Just a few blocks from the Plaza de los Tres Grandes, at the Miguel Hidalgo street No. 20, you will find the Regional History Museum that will help you to comprehend the origins of this town.

Inaugurated in the year 2004, this place is located in the old Hacienda de Nuestra Señora de las Angustias, at the Casa de los Portales.Through its many halls visitors can admire original documents important for the town, archeological vestiges and pieces made with mammoth bone, for example and old photos that shows the everyday life of its inhabitants.

Among the jewels of this collection you will be able to see the will of Francisco Peiro Gramon who was one of the founders of Mocorito. There are also the account books of the hacienda.

Many of these precious objects in this museum have been donated by Mocoritenses. You will find here musical instruments like tamboras (regional music is an important part of the town) old newspapers, furniture from the Porfiriato and even guns from The Revolution.

There is also a hall dedicated to important personalities from the community, the portraits are done by the artists Alonso Enriquez and Ernesto Rio.
