Chametla

El Rosario

The Chametla community is considered the cradle of the mestizo race in Sinaloa, since it was here that the evangelization started. The town was inhabited by the totorames when the Spanish Conquistador Nuño de Guzmán arrived.

The place was originally known as Ytchamitl, which means “Place of Fire”, this due to the high temperatures that can be registered in the zone. Located 20 minutes from El Rosario, Chametla has an interesting museum where you can see prehispanic pieces found in the zone.
