Spinning the cultural wealth
Being a place whose main tradition is the embroidery of fabrics, it was necessary for Santa María del Río to have a place that would serve as a home to host this cultural attraction. “Museo Casa del rebozo” is a space dedicated to this art, where the residents seek to create exhibitions that show the journey of this practice. I shows the origins, first works and contemporary confections by current artisans.
Encouraging the participation of visitors, this place contains ancient mysteries that the people of San Luis Potosi are eager to share so that it reaches other states of Mexico.
Inaugurated in 2019, it had a collateral objective to promote, inside and outside the museum, workshops in which hundreds of visitors can participate in the surroundings of this Magical Town.
In addition to containing rebozo garments, there are also masks carved in wood, textiles, ceramics and the various mechanisms that have been used in the making of the most popular rebozos in the town and that embellish all of San Luis Potosí.
The “Museo Casa del rebozo” is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Finding it is easy, being located downtown of Santa María del Río, it is the most colorful building, spreading its beauty along its streets.
