Tamul Waterfall

Aquismón

One of the natural wonders you will see in the Huasteca Potosina is the Tamul waterfall. Its water curtains are hidden between the tall vertical walls of the canyon. This waterfall drinks from the Gallinas river. The waterfall meets a second river, the Santa Maria.

Tamul’s waterfall has 105 meters and you can get to know it in a tiny wooden boat named panga, traditional in this region. The tour starts in the land tenure La Morena, where the Tampon river runs showing its beautiful blue and green hues. You will be able to admire during your trip the contrast of the water with the vegetation and the rocks. You may even swim a little in the river.

Guides will lead you for about 1 hour and a half until you get to Tamul. The boat has a 100 meters distance between waterfalls so you can contemplate it without any danger. Best seasons to visit it is from November to March. If you come to see it in April, it's probably that the waterfall will be dry.

You will also be able to visit the Cueva del Agua, a little natural water pool or cenote ready for you to swim in its spring water while you enjoy nature.

Another way you can get to know the Tamul waterfall is by doing rappel. For doing this, you must get to the land tenure El Naranjito. Here, there is an orel on the shore of river Gallinas, here is where the waterfall born and the place where your rappel adventure begins. Ruta huasteca is one of the agencies certified and specialized for providing this activity.
