Felipe Carrillo Puerto

Quintana Roo

Approximately, 223 kilometers from Cancun, among mangrove, lagoons, waterfalls and the sea, you will find one of the most wonderful destinations in the Mexican Republic. You will be enchanted by its exotic landscapes that will open up to you a jungle full of thick vegetation and vines that hide temples, pyramids and ancient ceremonial centers.

In Felipe Carrillo Puerto you will find beautiful hotels and tourist attractions right at the heart of Quintana Roo. This place is also known as “Town of the Warriors” due to its vast landscapes. This port was considered during Mayan times as a hiding and strategic place during The War of Castes, in fact, its enormous area makes 90% of the Reservoir Sian Ka’an, and was declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

If we would like to enumerate all the virtues of this place, it will be almost impossible because there’s always a new spot to admire, that’s why it is called “Pueblo con Encanto” or Town with Charm. Visit the Balam Nah church or Jaguar House, the only one built by white slaves under the Mayan rule.

You will also find the Casa Cultural where different workshops take place. We also recommend you to visit the Museum “Chan Santa Cruz” about Mayan culture. You can find exhibitions about Mayan life and culture.

Another must-see is the Sanctuary Cruz Parlante, which is located quite near from downtown. It was built by Spanish missionaries, which gave a mystical power to the Cross.

Finally, gastronomy is of importance here: try the chimole, relleno negro, salpicón de venado, poc-chuc or the famous cochinita pibil.
