Adventure

Bacalar

Live a vacation full of adventure
If you're interested in “flying” in the middle of the jungle, we suggest that you visit the Kan Kin Ziplines, located only 12 kilometers (7.5 mi) away from downtown Bacalar. Feel the adrenaline rush through your body while you zipline through its five circuits, which have a collective length of 1.5 kilometers (1 mi). Wander deep into the jungle paths to discover the area's diverse flora and fauna. You can also go cross-country cycling.

While in Bacalar, you also have to add Parque Biomaya to your to-do list. Not only does it have zip lines that span over half a kilometer (.3 mi), it also boasts a circuit that takes you soaring above the jungle canopy, where you can witness spider monkeys jumping about. Moreover, you can go deep into the lagoon's canals on an inflatable floatie ride.

Incomparable nature
Bacalar’s hypnotic sunrise is always included in adventure excursions. The sky usually turns different shades of orange and pink that both contrast with and complement the lagoon's countless shades of blue. In order to take in the show put on by nature, rent a paddleboard, and admire the flight of the birds while keeping your balance on the water. A fringe benefit of this activity is that it includes snorkeling in a cenote. Prepare to start your day very early because the appointment starts at 7:00 A.M., in order to avoid busy crowds of swimmers.

Another option is to go rappelling in the outskirts of Bacalar, on route to Mahahual, a fishing village and yet another beautiful place on the Costa Maya. Rappel 213 feet down a natural stone wall before cooling down in the crisp waters of the Cenote Cocodrilo.
