Cavas Freixenet (Wine cellars)

Cadereyta de Montes

We cannot talk about the Pueblo Mágico (Magical Town) of Cadereyta de Montes without repeatedly mentioning its wine cellars, since it is part of the Ruta del Queso y el Vino (Cheese and Wine Route) of the state of Querétaro.

One of its most renowned wineries in the region, Cavas Freixenet is worth a visit. The Finca Doña Dolores (Doña Dolores Farm) stands out in the landscape for its wooden facade and red tiles, in addition to having a space for its vineyards of just over 45 thousand square meters (over 53 thousand sq. yds).

There are different ways to get to know their wine cellars in depth, everything will depend on the purpose of your visit and budget. The most requested is the classic one that will allow you to go down to the 25 meter (82 feet) deep wine cellar, which gives the wines an ideal temperature and climatic conditions for their fermentation. It includes wine tasting.

If your thing is to visit Freixenet but only because of the different flavors and varieties of its beverages, wine tasting is the best option for you. In addition to going down to the cellar, you will taste three different wine labels. Also, there is the possibility of absorbing all the wine knowledge from a sommelier with a five-hour workshop that includes the pairing-tasting of four wines. The latter takes place on the second Saturday of each month.

We know that there are those who want to know not only the farm, but also look for those movie-like landscapes among the vineyards full of grapes waiting to be cut. Can you imagine doing it aboard a tram, carriage or on horseback? Don't imagine it and live it. To end your visit, don't forget to buy some of the house beverages in its wine boutique where you will find all the variety that they make.
