Botanical Garden of Cadereyta “Ing. Manuel González Cosío”

Cadereyta de Montes

This place was born with the goal of conserving and studying the biological richness, focusing on the more than 200 botanical families that grow at Querétaro's soil, which makes it the ideal setting to reveal the richness of its flora to you. We are sure that you will want to take a closer look at its collection of cacti, one of the largest in the world.

Among the different amenities that this space offers, its 30 minute guided tours stand out, in which an expert will delve into the different research, awareness and conservation tasks that are carried out in situ among the population and its visitors, as well as showing you the characteristics of each of the specimens it houses, some endemic or threatened by the destruction of their habitat.

The garden is divided into five collections, each one specialized in very specific characteristics of the plants in that collection: Those belonging to the semi-desert; the cacti of Querétaro; the vegetation of the Querétaro valley; the Mexican mammillaria -where special attention must be paid to the so-called “Bola de hilo”( thread ball) or “Cactus bola de golf” (Golf ball cacti), a native species that only occurs in a 400-meter field in the Sierra Gorda-; and the queretan agaves.

When you finish admiring the landscapes that this place offers, you can buy some of the plants that have been grown in its greenhouse and thus support the research work carried out in the Botanical Garden. Without a doubt, this visit will reaffirm the importance of caring for the environment.
