A place full of history
Also known as
“Animitas” this chapel dates from the 17th century and according to specialists, it was the first church to be erected in
the Magic Town of
Bernal.
Historically its construction is due to the order of the Franciscans, however, legend has it that a merchant hid in some bushes when he was chased by thieves. There, he asked the souls of purgatory to escape unscathed. The danger passed and as thanks he built the chapel for the souls.
Although the space of the chapel is small and only has an atrium and an oratory, it is possible to see some documents, objects and paintings of the town in a small museum.
