Talavera workshops

Puebla

Finding the best places to purchase talavera poblana is not an easy task, as there are many fabrics produced with this technique, declared as World Heritage. However, there are workshops that deserve recognition because of their age.

Uriarte Talavera: the workshop with the oldest record, inside a large house in the Historical Center of Puebla. Here, glazed pottery, as the talavera is also known, has been worked since 1824. This allows us to get close to the artists working live.

Talavera de la Reyna Museum: in addition of being a tableware fabric, it is a museum dedicated to tell the history and details of the production of talavera, where you can take part in a ceramic painting and molding workshop.

Casa de a Talavera Celia: it has an exquisite collection of talavera for sale. However, visitors can interact in the process of storing the mud, in the elaboration of colors, glazes and in the baking of the pieces.

Mercado El Parián: they don’t only sell talavera, but it is a great place for beginners looking to purchase items for the first time. Don’t come looking for a lot of variety, as here you will find classic tableware and vases at a cheaper price than in other places.
