This Center is in charge of protecting a great array of species such as golfina, prieta, carey and laud. At the same time, they take care of terrestrial and freshwater turtles like cabeza amarilla, sabanera and mojina, casquito and jicotea.

It is noteworthy that one of the main objectives of the Center is increasing awareness and knowledge around the turtle's biology among visitors in order to design and apply specific strategies for recovering its population.

There is also an area of scientific research around the turtle that promotes ecotourism in the region.

Besides having a special aquarium, the Center also has scientific campaments in the beach in order to monitor different turtle populations. You can also find research work in the areas of incubation and etiology.

The Mexican Center for the Turtle is located in 10 kilometer of the Puerto San Angel highway. It is open 365 day a year and the general public as well as researchers can access it. There is also the possibility of booking a school trip.
