Tacámbaro Pool

Tacámbaro

One of the favorite attractions for the adventurous at heart when visiting the Pueblo Mágico de Tacámbaro (Magical Town of Tacámbaro) is the Alberca de Chupio o del Rey Tacamba (Chupio or King Tacamba Pool), which is said to be the monarch's favorite place to relax from his royal chores. It has a special charm: the lagoon crowns the eye of a volcano that has been dormant for thousands of years and which you can admire up close, although swimming in it is no longer permitted.

Several legends run around this body of water whose diameter is 750 meters (466 feet), being the most popular “Del combate de la flores” (which explains why some days flowers usually appear in the center of this water paradise with green and blue hues), where a group of actors usually perform seasonally using the landscape as a natural scenery to delight visitors.

Among other activities you can do in the surroundings of this wonderful forest is to organize camping trips taking advantage of the phantasmagoric and mystic environment that the nights bring to this place, some walks or bike rides that lead you to the viewpoint of the city's hill, which is less than an hour away from the pool and where you can take the best pictures.

If you are lucky enough to go there in September, you can join the annual picnic organized by the locals. If not, you can bring your own food and organize your family picnic.
