Lake Tequesquitengo and The Silver Capital Route

The departing location of this route will be Mexico City. It is ideal to know its historical past in its large number of museums, old convents and colonial buildings. Stroll through its impressive zócalo, taste a delicious guajolota and at nightfall sing with the mariachi at Plaza Garibaldi. Here is where cultural variety is infinite.

The route continues to the Pueblo Mágico (Magical Town) of Tepoztlán. It is located in the Cerro del Tepozteco, here you will enjoy its landscapes and the magic that surrounds it. Visit the Pirámide del Tepozteco (Tepozteco Pyramid), the Templo y Ex Convento de la Natividad (Temple and Ex Convent of the Nativity), you can also experience endless healing rituals such as the temazcal.

Continuing through the state of Morelos you will arrive at Cuernavaca, called the City of Eternal Spring because of its mild climate and landscaped gardens. You will be able to visit its beautiful cathedral or the aqueduct and even El Palacio de Cortés (Cortez Palace) built in 1535. Among the delicacies you will find here, is a great variety of moles, such as the pepita. Trying it is a must.

To continue enjoying the weather, your next stop will be Tequesquitengo. A wonderful little town in front of a lake with the same name, where you can water ski, kayak or take a boat ride. Here you will find delicious dining options.

The culmination of the route will be the beautiful Pueblo México de Taxco, Guerrero. Surrounded by hills and mountains, it is a beautiful little town of alleys, old houses and attractive historical buildings such as the Church of Santa Prisca. You can ride a wagon through its beautiful haciendas and learn about its history by visiting its museums, it is the oldest mining town in the country. Being the Capital of Silver, here you can buy beautiful charms, rings, necklaces, or bracelets, on Avenida San Agustín there are more than 20 workshops creating true works of art. Don't leave without trying the pozole de Taxco or the jumiles.
