Mexico City is one of the metropolises that houses the largest number of museums just below London, United Kingdom. Therefore, we present a brief recommendation of the museums you should visit in the downtown area.

Start your tour at the Antiguo Colegio de San Idelfonso, a former Jesuit college dating from the 18th century, it is an important sample of early mural art, especially from Orozco. It is also home to important exhibitions.

Continue to the Diego Rivera Mural Museum, located in Colón and Balderas. This site was specially built to house the famous mural by Mexican Diego Rivera “Dream of a Sunday afternoon in the Alameda.”

On Calle de Academía number 13, you will find a 16th century convent that exhibits a collection by José Luis Cuevas, which includes paintings over 200 centuries old by both Latin American artists and the master himself.

Finally, at the Franz Mayer Museum you will find a splendid collection of applied art in a beautifully restored 18th century building, with a charming courtyard and a café.
