Mexicali owes its name to the mixing of the words and the territories of México and California, since its founders were colonists from both sides of the border. Mexicali is an industrial city that also offers museums and art galleries.

The Museo Universitario (University Museum) is home to permanent and temporary exhibitions. El Bosque y Zoologico de la Ciudad (City Woods and Zoo) and the emerald green water of Guadalupe Canyon will remind you that coexisting with nature is essential to the evolution of man. You can walk along the Dunas de los Algodones where feeling the wind that blows free will make you feel free as well.

The green Laguna Salada (Salt Lagoon), with its canyons, cave paintings, petroglyphs and archaeological sites are just a few examples of the many contrasts that you will find in Mexicali.
