Celaya, also known as the Golden Gate of Bajio, is an ideal destination for religious tourism - full of monasteries, temples and historical monuments.

LIMITLESS ARCHITECTURE
Admire the neoclassical architecture and the historical downtown, designed by renowned Mexican architect, Francisco Eduardo Tresguerras, whose work can be found in the Temple of Carmen, with murals and paintings representing Christian history; the Cathedral, with impressive murals inside; the Convent of San Francisco; and the Augustinian Cloister, previously used as a municipal jail and now the present-day home of the city’s Cultural Center.

LA ALAMEDA
Stroll around the Alameda, a cozy place next to the Sanctuary of Guadalupe. Cross the portals of the Plaza de Armas and admire the murals commemorating the heroes of Mexico inside the Municipal Palace.

THE MUMMIES
Dare to enter the city of the dead, and live a chilling experience when visiting the cemetery, home to the Museum of Mummies of Celaya. Schedule a night visit and be amazed at the stories, legends and symbolisms living in this place.

GASTRONOMY
Be delighted by the delicious and traditional cajeta sweets made with goat's milk. Savor a typical gordita in the Cañitos market. If you visit in July, don’t miss the Festival of Flavors, and make sure to sample the local gastronomic specialties.
