Zapotlanejo

It is a small town in the municipality of Zapotlanejo, located 10 kilometers ( 6 miles ) to the northwest, between the two most important rivers of Jalisco: the Verde and Santiago rivers; without a doubt, a must see.

According to its history, the origin of this population goes back to the pre-Hispanic period, since it is known that the Spanish conquerors arrived here and met an ethnic group called “tecuexe”. This indigenous settlement was in an area that benefits from nature.

In its surroundings, ceramic vestiges from the Pre-Classic period were found, mainly in the Los Platos hill.

Walk through its beautiful streets and stop for a moment in the old church that was built by San José Isabel Flores, who keeps his relics and has a room of miracles that testifies to the faith of hundreds of visitors, as well as a museum where they talk about their lives.

The downtown is surrounded by beautiful palm trees that give life to the town, its civic square has a kiosk with quarry finishes and at its peak a lantern that reflects the characteristic features of the town.

Its main economic activity is the cultivation of corn; in addition, you can find some textile workshops that make up the industries of the municipal seat.
