Rodo Padilla Workshop

Tlaquepaque

Among the prodigious sons of Tlaquepaque we find Rodo Padilla, a sculptor and artisan who distinguishes himself by working with wax and ceramics at high temperatures.

He is known as the artist of “los gorditos” (“the fat ones”) because of his overweight sculptures that represent characters of everyday life such as the bronze mariachis that decorate the Independencia Walkway.

Rodo Padilla's workshop and studio can be visited at calle Progreso 290. With luck, he gives a guided tour himself to appreciate how he works the clays and the hand-forged casting.

In the workshop you can acquire some of his works, from sculptures to vases and lamps. Another branch of his art is located in Independencia 139.
