The Laguna de Cajititlán is located about 25 km (40 miles) to the south, of what is the metropolitan area of Guadalajara, in the municipality of Tlajomulco. So it is easy to get to from the bypass.

Cajititlán means gourd or container in Nahuatl, a name it receives because the water in the lagoon is rainwater that comes from the surrounding mountains, so the water accumulates on a bottom of firm tepetate rock.
