Located between the municipalities of Tlajomulco de Zúñiga and Jocotepec, Cerro Viejo mountain is the third highest elevation in Jalisco. It is located approximately 45 minutes from downtown Guadalajara.

Reaching 2,970 meters ( 9,744 feet) above sea level, it was declared a State Hydrological Protection Area and Protected Natural Area in 2013, and has a wide variety of endemic species in the region.

In contact with nature

The uphill journey can take between 5 to 7 hours, depending on the pace of the trip, physical condition and the way to go. We recommend that you always go accompanied by a guide, and in groups of more than two people, take only what is necessary and be warm with comfortable clothing and bright colors.

The way is a discovery adventure, you will be able to find diverse species of flora, and marvel at the green and brown tones that the forest offers.

You can many interesting species in the forest, and on the way you could see a squirrel, badger, or if you are very lucky to see a gray wolf or a scarlet macaw, species in danger of extinction.

It is an unmissable visit, and it is perfect for those who want to know more about the treasures that nature gave us, always remember to respect the rules and travel instructions within Cerro Viejo.
