Mazamitla

Leisure in Mazamitla is always tied to the forest. With four ziplines and the second largest suspension bridge in Latin America, Mundo Adventure is an ecotourism park worth visiting.

There is a spring that winds through the property and flows into a waterfall. It is precisely here where you can slide through the canopy. The elevated landing platforms were built on the trunks of giant trees. If you prefer, you can climb and rappel off of the side of the waterfall. There are also cabins and ATV rentals.

If you are looking for more relaxed activities with a pinch of fun, stay in Rancho Epenche's cabins, a 19th century hacienda. As an amenity, they offer a tour of the morning milking of the cows through which they obtain the raw milk that serves as the main ingredient of the pajarete, Mazamitla's most traditional drink.

Raw milk is mixed with chocolate, coffee, and 96-proof alcohol, which turns the beverage into an elixir of pure energy to kick off the day, as ranch hands tend to start theirs. Now you'll have the strength to herd cows and sheep for a few minutes. You can wrap up the day by collecting fruits from the garden in a basket they provide and canning them.

Spend the rest of the afternoon harvesting wheat grains, reading a book, or challenging other guests to a quick game of soccer, volleyball, or badminton. They also offer bike rides, mountain bikes, and ATV’s, though these must be booked beforehand.
