The traces of the mining bonanza in Real del Monte still stand and are open to the public. These are old mines where you can take tours to see what life was like for its workers.

Start your visit in the Mina de la Dificultad (Difficulty's Mine), crowned with a 45 meter high chimney that currently houses a museum and one of the few geologic samples museum in Mexico, housing a large collection of stones and minerals. This mining icon still has machinery in operation.

The Acosta Mine is one of the most popular, since here it is possible to descend up to 170 meters underground. In this experience you will discover the hard working conditions of the miners of that time. You will also learn about the mineral extraction process and observe wagons and vaults that are very well preserved. A curious fact is that at the end of the tour and before leaving the sinkhole you will find yourself 120 meters below Mina de la Dificultad.

End your tour with a visit to the Museo de la Medicina Laboral (Museum of Occupational Medicine), which in 1907 functioned as a hospital for sick and injured miners. This place preserves the historical and cultural heritage of Real del Monte since it allows knowing the medical treatments given to the sick miners in that time.
