Huichapan

If your passion is the history of Mexico, El Chapitel will become one of your new favorite places since the First Cry of Independence was held there on September 16, 1812.

Those who carried it out were Andrés Quintana Roo and General Ignacio López Rayón, who went out to the balcony of El Chapitel to remember the beginning of the struggle that was taking place in Mexico at that time. Currently, in this place, there is a small collection that includes a replica of Dolores' bell and other objects from that time.

In El Museo de Arqueología e Historias (Archaeology and History Museum) you can learn more about the origins of Huichapan. This site, founded in 2013, has pieces of the pre-Hispanic cultures that settled in the area, the same ones that made the cave paintings that you can visit in the surroundings of Huichapan.

Through its collection, you can learn about the importance of this Pueblo Magico (Magical Town) as an important piece in the state's economy during the Viceroyalty era, as well as its relevance during the Mexican Independence and Revolution.
