El Palmar Beach

Ixtapa Zihuatanejo

Walking barefoot along El Palmar beach, one of the main beaches in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, is one of life’s loveliest experiences; the combination of golden sand and crystal-clear waters, surrounded by luxury resorts, will leave you feeling upbeat and full of energy.

This beach is located in the very heart of Ixtapa’s zona hotelera, on what used to be a palm grove (hence the name), and its strong swell makes it possible to practice surfing.

Take a walk along the seashore, giving yourself a break to relax in the chairs (and parasols) set out all along the beach, while sipping on a delicious drink and sampling region typical dishes. Alternatively, indulge in a wonderful, relaxing massage, on the seashore.

If you’re into water sports however, you could rent a jet ski from one of the rental providers on the beach, and cut across Pacific Ocean waves. You can also go parasailing, water-skiing, and boat tours.

Sea turtles are released from October to March; if you are lucky enough, you might spot a turtle laying its eggs, or even get to take part in the turtle releases which take place on the beach.

As evening turns into night, you can sit back and watch the sunset, on the beach, or in one of the nearby bars and restaurants.
