Parador Sangre de Cristo(Cultural and Gastronomic area Sangre de Cristo)

Silao

Near Cerro del Cubilete there’s another place you shouldn’t miss—the Parador Sangre de Cristo. You have to take the Silao-San Felipe state highway and, instead of going to Cerro del Cubilete, turn off towards the Sangre de Cristo town.

It’s a cultural and gastronomic space full of traditional places to buy handicrafts, typical candies, wine and Guanajuato mezcal. And although sounds tempting going directly to these stores, we recommend you start your visit in one of its three museums.

If you’re a history fan, at the Museo de la Minería (Mining Museum) you will figure out this activity's importance in Guanajuato state—home to several of the most outstanding mining towns in Mexico—through interactive experiences. In addition, you can admire its lamps and scales collection, a workstation and a mine’s replica which will take you to the center of the Earth.

Take a tour to Museo de las Momias Viajeras (Museum of Traveling Mummies), so called because they have been in different countries. The exhibition includes 36 mummified bodies found in Santa Paula cemetery.

Finally, visit the Museo de las Catrinas y la Fiesta de las Ánimas that will reveal the details along this tradition through the altar of the dead permanently installed.
