Guanajuato

Comonfort is a Pueblo Mágico in Guanajuato, located on the banks of the Laja River, at the foot of the best municipality lookout: Cerro de Los Remedios. Discover a place full of stories, legends and unbeatable places immortalized in their traditions.

As you walk through the colorful streets of this Pueblo Mágico, you’ll enjoy a peaceful atmosphere, ideal to admire its beautiful architecture. In the center, you can see the old City Hall building, beautifully decorated with murals that tell Comonfort history from prehispanic times until present.

With a beautiful two body facade, the Parroquia San Francisco de Asís opens the way for you to admire the quarry main altar, as well as its five baroque-style altarpieces worked in gold leaf. Further on, another baroque sample rises—Templo de los Remedios (Temple of the Remedies).

Walk to the Jardín 5 de Febrero kiosk and rest for a few minutes under the trees’ shade while you taste a flavorful sorbet.

The Hidalgo Market is the heart of Comonfort gastronomy. The intangible magic of its flavors feels no sooner trying the gorditas of requesón (a kind of ricotta) and broken corn or its enchiladas, accompanied with aguas frescas (cool waters). Ask for the baked fruit and try charamuscas. The “tortillas ceremoniales” are important for the town's identity —you have to try them!

The region is recognized for its artisans impressive work in the creation of molcajete that, due to their sizes and shapes, attract visitors' attention. You can also take home a sample of their pottery such as tableware, vases and plates.
