The Mining Museum is located at the mouth of the La Providencia mine, this excavation had a depth of 300 meters, in its different levels. Gold and silver were extracted in this mine. Its exploitation began in the 20th century and stopped working in 1960. The museum opened its doors in 1975, only 15 years after the mining cooperative that had replaced the English company, ended its activities.

The purpose of the site is to represent the life of a town through an economic activity, such as mining. Its collection consists of 250 minerals and just over 200 pieces including photographs that capture the most famous shots of the site, documents, and plans, as well as the instruments that were used in the extraction of the material.

The museum is in Quintana Roo s / n on the corner of Tiro Norte, El Carmen neighborhood. Its service hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sundays and holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
