Aculco de Espinoza or Aculco (among friends), is a Pueblo Mágico (Magical Town) in Estado de México, frequented by its visitors to acquire quarry stone fountains, ornaments and even cobblestones, A large part of its inhabitants are experts in producing those. On the other hand, its extensive variety of dairy products and derivatives such as cheeses, butter, cream among many others, are reasons enough for thousands of travelers to come to taste such products.

Speaking of quarry stone, the prodigious creations could not be left out of the town's architecture, you will notice this when you lose yourself in its Historic downtown, from the ground, to the columns, entrances and cornices of the buildings, they are lined and adorned with this stone, displaying both the work and identity of its inhabitants.

Aculco’s cheeses, in addition to fulfilling a nutritional function, play an important role in cultural dissemination. Its large number of workshops dedicated to the production of artisan cheeses led to the implementation of guided and gastronomic tours where travelers learn about the preparation process, types, aging, flavors and even what to accompany them with and how some cheeses are true works of art. These tours are part of the Cheese Route and include tasting.

The famous “Washhouses of Aculco” were built more than a hundred years ago. If you get there, you will learn about the way in which clothes were washed in the past, a place for inhabitants’ gossip. This practice, surprising as it may seem, is still active, since the laundries are still available for visiting and use for those who need them. If you like legends, Aculco has several that deserve to be told over the warmth of a cup of hot chocolate.

The best season to visit this Pueblo Mágico is from February to October as it has a warm climate with an average temperature of 25°C (77°F). From Aculco it is possible to visit San Juan del Río and Tequisquiapan in Querétaro doing short trips.
