Valle de los Espejos

Acambay

At the foot of the mountain is the Valle de Los Espejos, a place where Villa de Acambay nature-and-beautiful views mix.

Those who like to walk will discover that it owes its name to the“bordos” (roughly-built dams), since the cornfields’ irrigation water ponds and the hill slopes surrounding it, reflect as if they were true mirrors.

Its 100-square-kilometers extension adjoin with Atlacomulco communities at south, with San José Boctó, La Soledad and Pueblo Nuevo at west; with San Antonio Detiña, Esdocá and Acambay at north; and with San Pedro de los Metates, Las Primaveras and Pathé at east.

The valley is surrounded by small hills that thousands of years ago encircled the lagoon and, according to researchers, had volcanic activity. Currently the volcanic stone is used by locals for making metates and other objects.
