Parque Cañón de Fernández

Durango

Durango is a Mexican destination full of contrast even in its natural resources that, on the one hand can have semi desert zone, whereas in the other, its Flora and Fauna is unique thanks to the vitality of the 200 kilometers of the Nazas river: its riverbed can bring up to 4 thousand cubic meters of water per second.

For this reason, it is not strange at all that the Cañón de Fernández State Park, located in the Lerdo Municipality, just one hour and 24 minutes from Torreon city, is one the most popular natural attractions. Its 17 thousand hectares have been considered a Natural Protected Area since 2004.

This National Park is the only in which there is still alive a part of the Nazas River that feeds different trees such as ahuehuetes, alamos and sabinos that guards it since ancient times.

Besides, it hosted 580 species of animals and vegetation –25 endemic to this place– that makes it the ideal place for hikers that love beautiful landscapes, adrenaline and adventure. It is one of the places with the richest biodiversity in the north side of Mexico.
