Mountains

Arteaga

La Marta, el Cielo and La Viga are the mountains that offer the best views of Arteaga, where adventure activities such as rappelling, climbing and hiking are practiced. In Autumn, they are good spots for appreciating the leaves' color changes and for bird sightings because of its totally clear skies.

From La Marta, the expeditions lead to La Cumbre El Morro, which marks the border between Coahuila and Nuevo León. If the walks are done in Dicember, snowy landscapes are appreciated and you can play in the snow. Here the faces of the hill are ideal for abseiling, with heights over 20 meters (65 ft).

By its own, El Cerro de La Viga is one of the highest in Mexico—it’s 3,650 meters (2.26 miles) above sea level. It is recommended for those who want to start high mountain hiking. Some providers include camps in the area, as it’s a good place to gaze at the night sky.

A more familiar place to navigate in inflatable boats, ride ATVs through the forest or camping is Parque Ecoturístico El Chorro. Its main attraction is the turquoise natural water pools formed by springs runoff.
