El Salto Waterfall

Arteaga

This natural wonder is formed in the mountains of Nuncio, a municipality located a few kilometers from Arteaga center. El Salto waterfall is a new tourist attraction since its opening to the public took place in 2019.

To get there, you have to enter a path of bushes and slopes covered with giant stones polished by water. The walk lasts about 15 minutes. From the very first step you can hear the strength of a 10 meters-height waterfall.

When you come face-to face with the courtine of water, you notice its immense natural-turquoise tone pool. Then, you just have to get ready in your bathing suit for jumping into the water to get closer to waterfall. On the river banks lifejackets are rented to make the activity safer.

The best time for visiting El Salto is noon, when the sun has already tempered the water. In addition, locals can be found selling food and renting spaces to rest after swimming.

The waterfall is protected as a natural reminder of the Río San Juan basin, so we suggest to leave the spaces you use clean and garbage free.
