Bocoyna is the municipality located in the highest part of the Sierra Tarahumara in Chihuahua. Here you can find five important population centers, all rural: Bocoyna (municipal capital), San Juanito, Panalachi, Sisoguichi, and Creel, the last two are recognized for their tourist attractions that are icons of the Copper Canyon.

In the middle of the road that connects San Juanito and Creel is the town of Bocoyna, whose history dates back to the 18th century, when it was founded by the missionaries of the Society of Jesus. As part of their heritage, they left the Mission of Our Lady of Guadalupe of Bocoyna also known as Casa Cura, in honor of Jesuit Father Juan María Salvatierra.

Near the town of Bocoyna, you can explore El Valle de los Monjes with limestone rocks that exceed 100 feet in height, sculpted over millions of years by wind, rain, and strong tectonic movements.
