Batopilas

The Pueblo Mágico of Batopilas (Magical Town of Batopilas) is characterized by its location in the deepest part of the Barrancas del Cobre (“Copper Canyon”), at an altitude of 500 meters (1600 feet) above sea level. To appreciate these virgin landscapes that surround it, one must stop at the La Bufa viewpoint, which marks the beginning of the descent by vehicle to the heart of the village.

As it is at an altitude of 1,300 meters (8,000 feet), La Bufa is the best area to see the riverbed, some surviving mines and how the vegetation changes due to the various microclimates that are combined in the ravine, such as the desert and the subtropical forest, which is characterized by its fruit trees.

One way to reach the viewpoint is by ATV or mountain bike. The same route includes other observation points, such as the Barranca de Los Plátanos with waterfalls up to 100 meters (328 feet) high and Piedra Redonda, with natural pools for jumping and diving. If you prefer, you can finish the tour near the Batopilas River, where two zip lines and a suspension bridge have been installed.
