usuario Alexia Arana
Campeche, known as the state with the only walled city in the country, with buildings dating back to 1704, full of bastions and walls, is one of the destinations in Mexico that you cannot miss.

Its gastronomy is an incredible combination of its Mayan past, of the pirates who came to set foot on the land and the sum of the best dishes of the peninsula, which is why your palate will discover endless flavors and colors.

Among the star recipes that Campeche can offer you, is the famous “pan de cazón” (dogfish bread), a delicacy made with corn tortillas, habanero pepper; An essential ingredient in traditional Campeche cuisine, and of course, dogfish meat, a common type of shark in the region, and you can accompany it with a fresh drink.

After having tasted a few typical dishes, we recommend you visit the magnificent streets of the Historic Center. Here you will find a wide variety of monuments full of history, ideal for taking the best photos. One of them is the emblematic Cathedral, which commemorates the founding of the town of San Francisco de Campeche

Another of the places that you cannot miss is Calakmul, an archaeological zone, which is undoubtedly a Mayan treasure. Where besides connecting with nature and touring one of the largest tropical forests in Mexico, you can perform various ecotourism activities, like horseback riding or a ride on an ATV.

Campeche recently added a new Magical Town to its list, Isla Aguada, one of the 11 new Magical Towns added in 2020, so this wonderful destination now has two, Isla Aguada and Palizada

Campeche is located in the south of the country and it is waiting for you to live the best experiences on your next vacation in Mexico.
