Guadalupe Canyon

Mexicali

It is considered an oasis that for many years was hidden among the desert sands. Located in the middle of the Tijuana-Mexicali highway, the Cañón de Guadalupe (Guadalupe Canyon) was inhabited more than 10,000 years ago and when it is explored, it becomes clear why there were those who decided to make it their home.

Long palm trees and deep ravines shelter hot spring tubs to relax mind and body, trails decorated with petroglyphs and cave paintings, waterfalls to cool off when the thermometer exceeds 40 degrees (104°F) and extensive areas to camp and contemplate one of the clearest skies in Mexico.

Climbing and rappelling are some of the activities that can be practiced within the Cañón de Guadalupe, which is part of the Sierra Cucapá. You can even see the landscapes where the Resident Evil movie was filmed, one of them is Laguna Salada, cataloged as a sandy depression and the lowest part of all of Mexico, five meters (16 feet) below sea level.

The Cañón de Guadalupe is ideal for escaping the city's hustle and bustle and getting lost in nature. For this reason, it is not allowed to listen to music during camping, since it can alter the behavior of the local fauna.
