La Bufadora Geyser

Ensenada

Admire how the crashing of the waves of the impressive “marine geyser” La Bufadora, are projected into the air. This is due to the flows of water through a cave that compresses its air to the extreme.

The experience begins before your arrival, because when travel to the side of the Pacific Ocean you can admire the natural beauty that surrounds you with spectacular views of the sea.

Upon arrival, you will have to walk a few minutes to reach the viewpoint. There, you will be greeted by an open sea chimney in the cliff that communicates with sea caves and, depending on the tide and waves, the sea water collides with force against the cliff and rises forcefully.

According to its inhabitants, the legend of the birth of this geyser tells that some time ago, in one of the gray whale migrations, a baby whale separated from the group to snoop around the coasts. As it wandered, it got stuck between the rocks. In search of help, she decided to launch a jet of water and then a bigger one.

In a neighboring corridor you can taste typical dishes and drinks of the region, such as churros and seafood prepared in different ways. The best time to visit it is in winter, since the tide is high and the water jets are higher.
