ENJOY A TRADITIONAL BREAKFAST
A day in the historic center of Zacatecas should start with a breakfast at the Acropolis Cafe housed in the Gonzales Ortega Market. Indulge yourself with one of the regional dishes, and enjoy the art that adorn the walls. When you've finished, explore the market's corridors and be amazed at the craft shops and the mix of architectural styles that surround the neighborhood.
VISIT THE CATHEDRAL
Cross the street and you find the façade of the cathedral adorned with so many Baroque columns and details that seems to be embroidered in pink quarry.
Inside, do not miss the contemporary altarpiece by the sculptor Javier Marin, a piece of a kind.
STROLL THROUGH THE PLAZA DE ARMAS
Leave the temple through the side door and go to the Plaza de Armas. Tour the square and learn the stories of the Mala Noche Palace.
LEARN ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT PALACE
In the background, the Government Palace dominates the northern flank of the esplanade.
